Rushmoor's new Farnborough Pools and Fitness centre takes shape
The borough's new leisure centre is on course to open toward the end of 2027, with a 25-metre pool and a learner pool with a moveable floor.
Rushmoor Borough Council says construction of the new Farnborough Pools and Fitness Centre is progressing, with piling complete and pool excavation under way. It is scheduled to open toward the end of 2027.
Aldershot residents will have a new swimming and fitness option within the borough in about a year, as work on Rushmoor's new Farnborough Pools and Fitness centre moves on.
Progress so far
In an update dated 30 September 2026 the council said structural piling is complete, dewatering is under way and excavation of the pool area is continuing. A car park next to the building, at the Pinehurst site, is also being built. The council marked the progress with a ceremony.
The facility is scheduled to open toward the end of 2027.

Everyone Active, which already runs Aldershot Lido and Alpine Snowsports for the council, will operate the new centre.

Art and play
Local artist Kev Munday designed artwork for the hoardings around the site, featuring sports imagery and local landmarks. The council also plans to involve local children in designing the outdoor play area this autumn.
What it means for residents
The centre is in Farnborough, not Aldershot, but it is a borough-wide facility and will be the council's main new leisure investment. In the meantime, Aldershot Lido and Alpine Snowsports remain open, and the council has not announced any change to them as part of this project.
