GP Surgeries in Aldershot: Addresses, Phones and How to Register
Four GP practices are listed on the NHS website with an Aldershot address, and registering with any of them is free.
Aldershot's GP practices on the NHS website are The Cambridge Practice and The Wellington Practice (both at the Aldershot Centre for Health, GU11 1AY), Princes Gardens Surgery (2A High Street, GU11 1BJ) and The Border Practice (Blackwater Way, GU12 4DN). You can register for free online through the NHS website, via the practice's own site, or in person. Use the NHS Find a GP service to check whether a surgery is currently accepting patients.
GP surgeries in Aldershot
Four GP practices are listed on the NHS website with an Aldershot address: two inside the Aldershot Centre for Health on Hospital Hill, one on the High Street, and one on Blackwater Way in GU12. Each has its own website for appointments, prescriptions and registration. The table below gives the address and reception phone number shown on each practice's NHS profile.
The practices
- The Cambridge Practice is at the Aldershot Centre for Health, Hospital Hill, GU11 1AY. Its own website, cambridgepractice.co.uk, says it also has a smaller branch surgery at 276 Lower Farnham Road, GU11 3RB, and offers an online request form for non-urgent medical and admin queries.
- The Wellington Practice is also at the Aldershot Centre for Health. Its website is wellingtonpractice.co.uk.
- Princes Gardens Surgery is at 2A High Street, GU11 1BJ. Website: princesgardenssurgery.co.uk.
- The Border Practice is on Blackwater Way, GU12 4DN. Website: borderpractice.co.uk.
The list is in no particular order, and this page does not rate or rank the practices. Which practice suits you mostly depends on where you live, so check each practice's own website for its catchment area.
The Aldershot Centre for Health
The Aldershot Centre for Health on Hospital Hill (GU11 1AY) is a large health building on Hospital Hill that houses the Cambridge and Wellington practices. The NHS website also lists a pharmacy (Rowlands) and a dental service at the address, so one visit can cover several needs. Check each service's own details before you go.
How to register with a GP
Anyone in England can register with a GP surgery for free, and the NHS explains the process. In practice:
- Find a practice near you using the NHS Find a GP service. Most people register at a surgery near where they live.
- Register online through the NHS website if the surgery offers it, fill in a form on the surgery's own website, or call in and complete a paper form.
- Registration takes about 15 minutes per person online. The NHS says you should usually be told you have been registered within five days of the surgery getting your details, though it can take longer.
- If you are already registered and want to change surgery, you can do it through the NHS App. You do not need to tell your current surgery.
To register a child, a parent or guardian usually fills in a separate form for each child. A surgery may ask for the child's birth certificate and their red book if you have it.
Which practice is taking patients?
Practice lists open and close, and a practice's status can change without notice. Each NHS profile shows whether the surgery is currently accepting new patients, so check that profile or phone reception rather than relying on a printed list. If you cannot register with the practice you want, try another from the table or ask your integrated care board (NHS Frimley) for help.
When you cannot get a GP appointment
For urgent problems outside surgery hours, use NHS 111 online or call 111. Our urgent care near Aldershot guide explains what is available locally, and our pharmacies in Aldershot guide covers minor illnesses you can take straight to a pharmacist.
